Food Sovereignty Mission Statement
Our mission is to collaboratively work towards the restoration of indigenous food systems, the promotion of healthy and sustainable traditional diets, and the safeguarding of ancestral knowledge, while fostering resilient, self-reliant tribal communities.
We recognize that food sovereignty is a fundamental human right and an inherent aspect of tribal sovereignty. Our committee is committed to engaging with ATNI member tribes and their respective communities to address the multifaceted challenges related to food access, nutrition, health, land stewardship, and economic development. By cultivating partnerships, advocating for policy changes, and sharing best practices, we strive to create a future where our tribes have full control over their food systems, from seed to table.
