Energy Mission Statement
In the 21st Century, energy and technology will play a critical role in Tribes’ ability to effectively govern, exercise their inherent sovereignty, and advance economic self-sufficiency. Now is the time to bring tribes, utilities, and industry together to collaborate, partner and advance beneficial opportunities.
About the ATNI Energy Program
ATNI established the ATNI Energy Program in 1995 to ensure tribal rights and interests were represented in power and transmission issues at the Bonneville Power Administration. Over the years ATNI’s energy work has expanded to regional and national policy processes related to tribal energy, tribal electrical utilities, and transmission issues. ATNI has been involved in regional transmission planning processes, energy efficiency and conservation, renewable energy development, and technical assistance to tribes. The ATNI Energy Program works to support the policy initiatives of the ATNI Executive Board and committees, including the ATNI Energy & Telecommunications Committee.
