farsighted tribal leaders in the Northwest formed the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians, and dedicated it to tribal sovereignty and self-determination.
ATNI is organized and chartered as a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation under the laws of the State of Oregon.
The organization sets out its membership and operating policies within its Constitution and Bylaws and ATNI Policies & Procedures Manual. Authority for management of the affairs of ATNI are delegated to the Executive Council by the members and further delegated to the Executive Board, Committees, and Executive Director.

Planning for the Center for Tribal Nations and Waterfront Education Park at the OMSI District, Portland, Oregon
Seeking ideas, identifying needs, and exploring development opportunities.
The Center for Tribal Nations (CTN) at the OMSI District project seeks to leverage the redevelopment of the OMSI property to model a new partnership between OMSI, tribal and intertribal organizations, and the City of Portland to restore the Native American community’s presence on the Willamette River and address our shared challenges of sustainability, resilience, and inclusion.

MEMBERSHIP
Tribal leaders attended meetings organized to formally address the on-going issues in tribal sovereignty and economic development. Unity of tribes working together to empower each tribal nation and individual.
COMMITTEES
Where it is appropriate, ATNI will develop and pursue regional strategies for the development, protection and advancement of the interests of member Tribes and their people in the areas represented by ATNI committees & programs.
PROGRAMS
ATNI has taken as its purpose to: provide a forum for sharing information on matters of interest to its member Tribes, develop consensus on matters of mutual importance, assist member Tribes in their governmental and programmatic development consistent with their goals for self-determination and self-sufficiency
CONVENTIONS & EVENTS
ATNI Conventions are where members convene for discussion, presentations and the work of the committees in regard to policy, legislation, and the future of Indian Country in the Northwest.
