TRIBAL DELEGATES

TCC is intended for tribal leaders, elders, staff, or citizens who have been assigned some level of responsibility on interest in leading, operating, or creating a climate change program.

Tribal delegates are expected to come in teams of 3-5 individuals. Team members may include a mix of tribal leaders, early career tribal environmental professionals, tribal citizens interesting in working on the climate crisis, such as a council member, or natural resource advisory committee member. Other team members may be tribal leaders for education or health departments, who want to cooperate with environmental program leaders on climate change adaptation. Our team approach will help ground the work at camp in the realities of the tribal delegation, while building confidence, and increasing the probability of success back home.

TRAVEL

The Tribe or Tribal delegates are responsible for transportation to and from the Camp location’s closest airport. Shuttle transport to and from the airport and all transportation while at the Camp will be provided.  We will specify our preferred itinerary via email so that you can purchase airfare that works with our shuttle schedule.

LODGING

All TCC attendees will be staying onsite among the mix of available housing, which primarily includes shared cabins, shared rooms, and bunk beds. Attendees should expect to share rooms with numerous individuals. If you have preferred roommates, please let us know prior to arrival. There are accessible bathing and lodging options for people with physical disabilities. Please request special accommodations, if needed.

FOOD

The camp will provide meals on-site for all participants. Most meals will be offered at regular times in the on-site dining hall. Coffee and tea service will be made available throughout the day. Meals will be buffet style or family style and while a variety of foods will be available to accommodate dietary preferences, the chefs may not be able to accommodate more nuanced dietary needs. If anyone experiences any issues, please notify our TCC planning team so that we can attempt to mediate the situation. Our planning team will note the dietary preferences (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, or other) identified when folks filled out our logistical survey.

WHAT TO BRING

• Laptop (or at least one per Tribal team)
• Bathrobe and slippers (if desired, to get to and from the restroom/shower facility and your room)
• Sunscreen, hat, jacket for cold weather, heat, wind, or rain
• Proper footwear for hiking, climbing ladders, scrambling on sandstone, walking through sand or mud
• Clothing that can be layered to accommodate a range of weather conditions
• Reusable water bottle
• Swimsuit, optional

THINGS TO DO

There are many things to do in the immediate area, but participants should expect to be kept occupied during most of the week. Time can be taken before or after the camp to experience the area’s rich history, cultures, and landscapes.

FIELD TRIPS / ACTIVITIES

During the week we have scheduled several gatherings and outings (transportation provided).

VIDEOGRAPHY

We will have a videographer with us for the week and we request that camp participants consider signing a photo/video release form.
