Water and the rivers which carry it are vital to our future, but fluvial processes and stream characterization is complex and often difficult to measure with traditional methods. New remote sensing technology has paved the way for geospatial products and tools to aid the understating and qualification of riverine environments. Quantum Spatial is assembling a broad group of scientists and professionals across federal and state government, universities, tribal nations, conservation organizations and environmental planning and engineering firms with an interest in water resource management, water quality, fluvial processes, habitat, and restoration for a day of presentations and discussion on this relevant topic.

The morning session will include presentations from geospatial professionals and scientists highlighting the newest innovations in remote sensing technology and analytical techniques to map and quantify freshwater systems. This will be followed by programmatic overviews from top agencies and organizations emphasizing the need for applied water science to meet the challenges of water resource management in the west.
A catered lunch will be followed by targeted panel discussions which will allow data users and experts to share their experiences with remote sensing and geospatial analyses to solve real-world problems. Expect a platform that will allow for audience participation and group discussion around the state of the science and best practices. Our panel discussion topics are listed below. Stay tuned for a detailed list of speakers and panelists coming soon.
Monitoring and Mapping Stream Temperature
Panel discussion on the use of thermal infrared imagery and other geospatial technologies to quantify, map, and monitor river temperature.
Habitat Assessment and Modeling
Panel discussion on the use of lidar, imagery, and other geospatial technologies to assess habitat suitability, design, and implementation.
Restoration Case Studies
Panel discussion on the use of lidar, imagery and other geospatial technologies highlighting specific restoration case studies and lessons learned.
